Hotel Excelsior Puerto Rico

The Hotel Excelsior in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is located in the city's Miramar district.

Just two miles from Old San Juan and three miles from Plaza Las Américas shopping center, this family owned high-rise business hotel is also close to the business district and just a short distance to the airport.

The 140 guestrooms are large, comfortable and clean and have either a king-size bed or two doubles. The latter can accommodate four guests.

The hotel has a small business center with an Internet-connected computer, and outdoor swimming pool and on-site parking. For access to Old San Juan or the beach, there is a nearby bus service.

If eating at the hotel, you have a choice of two restaurants - the widely renowned Augusto's serves classic European cuisine, and Bistro de Paris, a casual Parisian-style café.

In the review period, things weren't up to scratch. One elevator was in service for 10 floors and there much much construction noise, although was due to finish by the end of 2005.

The hotel is rather basic and some guests have complained that their rooms were not up to standard. With worn carpets and a rather barren appearance, it could do with some updating.

However, the multilingual staff is always helpful, and can make up for other shortcomings Hotel Excelsior may have.
